What is a cadence sensor on an ebike?

A cadence sensor is a component on some electric bikes that measures how fast the rider is pedaling. This information is used to engage the motor and provide assistance to the rider through pedal-assist technology. Cadence sensors typically use magnets and sensors to track the rotation of the pedals, and some can be adjusted to provide more or less assistance based on the rider's preferred level of exertion. Cadence sensors can be found on various types of electric bikes, from city commuters to mountain bikes, and are often integrated with other sensors like torque sensors and speed sensors to provide a more responsive and natural-feeling ride.
