LaPierre E-Zesty 9.2

As eBikes continue to grow in popularity, we at Ride Review have searched high and low for the perfect electric mountain bike that balances power, efficiency, and versatility. And we believe we've found it in the LaPierre E-Zesty 9.2. This eBike came onto our radar thanks to its unique features and positive reviews from riders and experts alike. One standout aspect is its fully removable battery pack, which allows riders to reduce the weight of the bike when traveling from home to the trails. This is a game-changer for those who often have to transport their bikes and appreciate a lighter load. Speaking of weight, the E-Zesty 9.2 boasts a full carbon frame, making it lighter than other LaPierre e-mountain biking models. This not only enhances maneuverability but also contributes to a more enjoyable riding experience. When it comes to power, the E-Zesty 9.2 delivers with its upgraded Fazua firmware for more efficient power dispersion. With its adjustable power output setting, riders can customize their riding experience to match their preferences and tackle different terrains with ease. One of the standout features of this eBike is its precise Shimano hydraulic braking system. Riders can expect smooth and jerk-free braking, which is crucial for maintaining control and ensuring safety out on the trails. Another noteworthy aspect is the E-Zesty 9.2's hybrid nature. With suspension travel settings that complement the smaller 27.5-inch wheels, this eBike strikes a balance between a mountain bike and an enduro bike. Whether you're tackling technical trails or enjoying a smooth ride on less challenging terrain, the E-Zesty 9.2 is up to the task. While the E-Zesty 9.2 has received high praise, it's important to address some of its limitations. One recurring criticism is the battery life, with the 252Wh battery proving to be a limiting factor for longer rides. We highly recommend bringing a spare battery if you plan to embark on extended adventures. Additionally, the wheels have been noted to be softer and more puncture-prone than desired. While this is a drawback, it's not necessarily a deal-breaker, especially if riders take the necessary precautions to prevent flats. It's worth noting that the E-Zesty 9.2 does have some limitations when it comes to adjustability for smaller riders. Unfortunately, there is no female-specific model available to fill this gap. We hope that LaPierre addresses these concerns in future iterations of the bike. Overall, the LaPierre E-Zesty 9.2 is a compelling option for those seeking a lightweight, powerful, and versatile eBike. Despite its limitations, its quiet motor, carbon frame, and precise braking system make it an appealing choice for riders of various skill levels. So if you're ready to hit the trails and experience more trail fun, the LaPierre E-Zesty 9.2 might just be the eBike for you.

Bottom Line

Has LaPierre succeeded in creating a totally new hybrid version of an e-mountain bike? We can't definitively say that they've invented a brand new bike category, but we can say that they have continued their tradition of high quality and performance. While it's disappointing to see limited size customization options, and the tires still suffer from puncture vulnerability, the drive unit is a huge upgrade and ensures a smooth and fun ride. The price is considerable but if you're already an e-mountain biking enthusiast, this might be the bike for you.
